Being a Japanese Language Student in Japan with Own Finance.

Do you feel how difficult to get a scholarship for study abroad in Japan is it? The person who submitted for that scholarship isn't only you. So you have to compete with another candidate. You need to pass several procedures to get it. It begins with document submission, document screening, interview and then gets the scholarship. After getting the scholarship, you also have to keep its terms. If you can't keep the terms, they'll stop it. Because of its difficulty, some people decided to study abroad with own finance. It's not impossible to come to Japan study abroad with own finance but you have to understand several points.

Prepare Much Money for the First Time

This is the biggest obstacle if you decided to study abroad with own finance. You need to prepare much money for these things below.

  1. Passport and visa fee
  2. Flight to Japan ticket
  3. Administration and tuition fee for the school
  4. Accommodation fee and daily cost
  5. Miscellaneous fee
Some people used agent service for making passport and visa. They will offer several schools in their list. Helps you to apply to your chosen school. You need to get CoE (Certificate of Eligibility) from the school. It's a requirement to apply for the visa. You only need to pay and give all required documents to the agent. I didn't use agent service when I apply for study abroad. So I had to go to Japan's embassy for the visa. If you use agent service, you don't need to go to the embassy.

Before applying to any school in Japan, decide when will you enter the school. Flight ticket's price is depending on the season. You can get the cheap price at the off-peak season. The off-peak season is the season when people come to Japan rarely. The off-peak season such as winter. Flight ticket's price is so expensive in April because it's school entrance time in Japan. There are so many students come to Japan in April. So you have to buy ticket 2 or 3 months before.

Consider which school will you enter by its entrance fee and tuition fee per month. You can visit its homepage or ask your agent. The tuition fee is depending on where the school is located. The school located in the metropolitan area have tuition fee more expensive than the school in the non-metropolitan area. So choose the school which fits your wallet.

Think about your life after coming to Japan. In Japan, students live in an apartment or school's dormitory. The apartment monthly fee varies. It's depending on size, how many rooms, and its contents. It's also depending on its distance from important public places such as train station and supermarket.

Every day you need foods and drinks. Eating at the restaurant more expensive than making own food. You can be saving money by buying foodstuff in the market and cooking it. If you a Moslem, you may think to eat Halal food. No guarantee the food in the restaurant is Halal. Pork is mostly used stuff as the ingredient of Japanese food. So you need to cook your own food for ensuring.

You also need to provide money for the miscellaneous thing when you live in Japan such as transportation, entertainment, cooking and school equipment, and health stuff. The main transportation for a student in Japan is bicycle and train. If your place is near to school, it's better to walk. But you still need a transportation when you want to go to the supermarket and part-time job's location. So I think you need to buy a bicycle.

Finance by Doing Part-time Job

If your family can't support your finance when you study abroad in Japan, you can get income by doing the part-time job. Your Japanese skill may be poor when the first time in Japan. You can do the part-time job in the place which not requires high Japanese skill. In Japan, the part-time job is paid per hour. The hourly wage is depending on the job and company. The hourly wage is also depending on time. Part-time job's hourly wage at late night is higher than normal time.
